Peñafiel castle is 210m in length and 35m in width. Built from Campaspero stone, its architectural style is similar to that of a Germanic-Gothic fortress. The external perimeter dates from the 11C while the internal walls were built between the 13C and 15C. A spiral staircase leads to the roof-terrace, from where the incredible views reveal the region's numerous wine estates. The south wing of the castle is home to the regional wine museum.
