Description

Designed by architect Ando Tadao, Benesse House is both a museum and a hotel. Shrouded in vegetation, the minimalist concrete edifice climbs up in steps to the top of a hill overlooking the sea. The artwork on display is by Iannis Kounellis, Sol Lewitt, Christo and Keith Haring. A small cable car leads to the Oval, a ring-shaped structure surrounding a water mirror. The estate is surrounded by parkland dotted with countless huge installations.
