This square, the town's oldest, takes its name from local patriot General Ignacio Agramonte. This former parade ground which witnessed the brutal executions of independence fighters, is today a backdrop for strolling and chatting. Benches under its trees make for a pleasant spot from which to admire the elegant Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria cathedral (restored in 1864), a Baroque masterpiece.
