Useful information

Description

It may look a little outmoded, but this museum gives an interesting insight into the world of silk, from silkworm to making a kimono. It takes between 3 000 and 9 000 cocoons - according to the size, the width of the sleeves and the complexity of the pattern and accessories, - to make a kimono (with each cocoon providing around 1 300m of raw silk). You will also discover how Yokohama became one of the silk trade's major ports. There are also temporary exhibitions on silk-producing countries, such as Laos and Uzbekistan.
