Useful information

Description

The Japanese sometimes visit Asakusa dressed in a kimono or yukata better to fit with the atmosphere of the old downtown area (Shitamachi), that of people of limited means and the pleasures so well described by Kawabata. Presided over by the enormous temple, Senso-ji, today it still has its wooden houses with glazed tile roofs, old-style shops and entertainment in various guises, not forgetting the Tokyo Sky Tree, the highest broadcasting tower in the world, topping out at 634m.
