Description

One of the most interesting archaeological museums in Italy, MArTA is dedicated to the art of Taranto and its region, from prehistoric to Byzantine times, with a particular focus on the town's (Taras) Greek period. Highlights include the statue of Zeus discovered in Ugento and dating from the 6C BC, a remarkable collection of red-figure Apulian ceramics and exceptional gold jewellery dating back to the Hellenistic period.
