The largest monastery of Suzdal, on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is now a museum. Founded in 1532 as an outpost, it dominates the left bank of the Kamenka and is named after its first superior. It rapidly grew rich thanks to gifts from Vassili III, Ivan the Terrible and the princely Pozharsky family. The current 16 and 17C edifices house temporary exhibitions.
