Neoclassical shopping galleries (1806 and 1811) dominate the west side of Market Square. A skyline of spruce 18C steeples and onion domes, whose multicoloured curved roofs are characteristic of Suzdal, seems to protect the heart of the town. Just in front rises the Winter church (heated) of Kazan and the Summer church (cold or unheated) of the Resurrection, distinguishable by its eight-sided bell tower adorned with earthenware tiles.
