Useful information

Description

Robert the Bruce gave this land to his squire, William of Irwin, whose family lived in the castle for 21 generations up until 1976. What first strikes the visitor is the mixture of shapes (round corner tower and steep pointed roofs) and styles (medieval, Jacobite and Victorian) of the various buildings. The estate is also famous for its lovely grounds and exceptional rose garden that boasts species from all over the world.
