Useful information

Description

Built between 1758 and 1774 to house the Garde-Meuble Royal (responsible for all movables in the royal palaces), then allocated in 1806 to the Ministère de la Marine (Ministry of the Navy), which vacated it in 2015, the building opened to the public in June 2021. After four years of renovations, the building has been restored to its former glory, including the former private flats from the late 18C, and the large 19C ceremonial rooms, which overlook Place de la Concorde via the façade loggia. It was here that Victor Schoelcher signed the definitive abolition of slavery in 1848.
