Garyu Sanso Villa
The Green Guide

Useful information

Description

Garyu Sanso Villa was built at Ozu in the late 19C by the wealthy Joko family. The extremely refined interior and each architectural feature of the villa (said to have been inspired by the imperial Katsura villa at Kyoto) reveal an exquisite attention to detail. At the end of the garden adorned with moss, a pavilion built on stilts overlooks the River Hiji where traditional cormorant fishing takes place each summer.
