Surrounded (in fine weather) by sidewalk cafés, the little square at the intersection of Arbat Street and Plotnikov Pereulok is decorated with one of Moscow's most delightful monuments, dedicated to the poet, writer and singer Bulat Okudjava (1924-1997), an emblematic figure in the Bohemian life of the quarter. The monument, designed by sculptor Georgy Frangulyan, evokes both the singer and the atmosphere in the Arbat area.
