Description
Bounded by the Old Port, Rue Saint-Jacques, Rue Berri and Rue McGill, Montreal's historic heart was originally enclosed within imposing stone walls built in the early 1700s. After falling into decline, interest in Old Montreal was revived in the 1960s and the shops were turned into housing. Today Old Montreal is a pleasant area that caters mainly to tourists.
