Useful information

Description

This fine example of early-18C domestic architecture is situated across from City Hall. Depicted by rubble-stone masonry, it was built in 1705 for Claude de Ramezay, 11th governor of Montreal during the French regime. Transformed into a museum in 1895, it charts Montreal's economic, political and social history. Costumed guides take visitors on tours of the exhibitions. The castle also features formal French-style gardens.
