Useful information

Description

Founded in 1752, the Royal Academy has a rich collection of art spanning the 16C and 20C. Spanish art from the Golden Century is widely represented here (Ribera, Murillo, Alonso Cano and Velasquez), but there is also work from the 18C related to the Bourbons, by Mengs, Tiepolo and Bayeu. But it is Goya who takes the lion's share with his Self-portrait in front of the Easel and a series of pictures of rooms. Among the foreign painters, the very rare Arcimboldo, king of anamorphosis, is represented with Spring.
