Founded in 1867 by Isabella II, the remarkable National Archaeological Museum in Madrid reopened in 2014, after six years of refurbishments. Its magnificent collections are showcased by a modern, interactive and sensitive museography, making it accessible for all-comers. Must-sees include the Protohistory section, the treasure of Guarrazar, the items relating to Egypt and Nubian, Al-Andalus and the Christian kingdoms. Don't leave without seeing the Greek vases.
