Description
Established in the Villeroy mansion (1730), this museum aims to be a repository of art textiles. It is particularly dedicated to the highlights of the history of fabric manufacture in Lyon through a stunning collection of fabrics. You will find out more about the know-how of silk production in the 17C, the evolution of weaving to embroider complex motifs in the 18C, the mechanisation of weaving and Joseph-Louis Jacquard's invention in the early 19C. Fascinating and instructive.
