Useful information

Description

The park's main entrance to the southeast was modified between1825 and 1828 with the addition of a three-arch portico decorated with bas reliefs and a triumphal arch, upon which Decimus Burton mounted a huge equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington, marking the path of the royal route leading from Kensington Palace to Hyde Park. In 1883 the arch was moved to its current site, the equestrian statue relocated to Aldershot and replaced with a chariot in 1912 by Adrian Jones.
