Description

The Linville River once flowed over the top of the 2,000ft-deep gorge here, until a flood in 1916 cracked the rock, creating the upper and lower falls that exist today. You can hike to the foamy chutes via two different trails (ranging from .6mi to 1mi) hacked though rhododendron thickets.
