Useful information

Description

These nine delightful gardens, planted with clipped hedges and dotted with ponds teeming with koi goldfish, waterfalls, bridges and rocks, were designed in 1992 along the model of samurai gardens from the Edo period. The maples of Tsukiyama-chissen-no-niwa are a riot of colour in autumn. Cha-no-niwa is home to a tea house. Nagaya gate, a vestige of an imposing samurai house, marks the entrance to Matsu-no-niwa garden. Low stone walls surround each residence and separate the gardens from each other.
