Useful information

Description

Sheltered by high outer walls, Grenoble's archbishop's palace, the oldest parts of which date back to the 13C, houses the Museum of the Former Bishopric. Intended to chart the local heritage, its fine displays provide a comprehensive overview of Isère by way of archaeological, historical and ethnographic collections. The archaeological crypt, where remains of the Gallo-Roman walls are visible, is one of the oldest early Christian baptisteries (4C).
