Useful information

Description

Perched on top of a hill, the Parliament of Australia is the heart of the federal political system. Designed by architect Romaldo Giurgola, its gigantic proportions are partially buried and culminate in a mast bearing the Australian flag. A mosaic by Aboriginal artist Michael Nelson Jagamarra covers the esplanade in front. Partly open to the public, who can attend the MPs' working sessions, the parliament is divided into three wings, one for each of the three branches of power: executive, legislative and judicial.
