Description
More than the quality of the works, it is the overview of the people of Australia and their ethnic, social and cultural diversity that will hold your attention on a visit to the National Portrait Gallery. There are some 400 portraits or self-portraits of eminent Australians, be they celebrities and household names or figures at the forefront of their professions. The media range from old engravings and paintings to contemporary photographs, from video performance to fluorescent spray-painted works.
