Cadbury Castle

Useful information

Description

Excavations have provided evidence of occupation in prehistoric times and of the construction of an Iron Age fort. There are indications that the Romans occupied the fort after the AD 43 invasion and that the Saxons subsequently refortified it. The site, with its commanding views, is also reputed to be that of Camelot, the castle of the legendary King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table.
