Useful information

Description

It was at the foot of the first castle, built in 1640, that the Catalan troops won the battle of 26 January 1714 against Felipe IV. This strategic location was part of Barcelona's defensive system. Altered and extended several times, it is now a pleasant place to stroll and enjoy fine views over the port and the town. It was turned into the International Centre for Peace and now holds temporary exhibitions and an interpretation centre that charts the history of the site.
