Description
This former industrial district, now a residential area, lies at the foot of Monjuïc, between Plaça d'Espanya and the sea. The district is bounded by the wide Avinguda del Paral·lel, so called because it runs exactly along the 41° 44' parallel north. At the beginning of the 20C, the avenue was lined by theatres, cabarets and frivolous shows and known as the Montmartre of Barcelona.
