This archaeological and ethnographical museum, founded in 1941, is dedicated to history, geography and Latin American culture. Over 2 500 exhibits are on show, including a real gem: the Madrid Codex, one of the four Mayan manuscripts to have survived the centuries and vandalism. The Quimbaya Treasure (Colombia) and strange enconchados - painted pictures decorated with mother-of-pearl - never fail to make an impression.
