Useful information

Description

In the centre of the vast Schwarzenberg Square stands the equestrian statue of Prince Schwarzenberg who defeated Napoleon at Leipzig in 1813 (the French Embassy is practically opposite) and another memorial, a monument to Russian soldiers, which recalls the liberation of Vienna by the Red Army in 1945. It stands in front of the beautiful Schwarzenberg Palace, built by one of the greatest Baroque architects of the time, and embellished with magnificent gardens.
