Useful information

Description

Many of the exhibits in the Natural History Museum were part of Emperor Franz I's cabinet of curiosities. The Mineralogy and Petrology section has some remarkable objects such as the bouquet of precious stones, a gift from Maria Theresa to her husband. However, it is the prehistory section that houses the most famous pieces found in Austria: the Venus of Willendorf and Fanny, Venus of Galgenberg, around 25 000 and 32 000 years old, respectively. The zoology section presents stuffed animals, including a dodo from Mauritius.
