Flanked by houses built by rich burghers in the 16C, 17C and 18C, Breite Strasse is surely Wernigerode's most picturesque street. The joists and wooden panels are often decorated with masks and carved patterns, such as those to be seen on the "Krummelsches Haus" at n° 72.
