Useful information

Description

Inaugurated in 1863, this theatre was the scene of Abraham Lincoln's assassination on 14 April 1865. The 16th president of the United States was rushed to Petersen House (516 10th Street) but died the following morning. The theatre was restored in the Victorian style and reopened in 1968 as a playhouse and memorial dedicated to Lincoln's tragic end.
