Useful information

Description

The Union Buildings, the seat of the South African government, date from the early 20C and were completed in 1913. The east and west wings represented the two linguistic groups of the time: English and Afrikaans. The buildings are closed to the public, but the setting provides a pleasant view of the city. In the gardens below, a huge 9m statue of Nelson Mandela was unveiled in 2013.
