Description
Situated on Mt Filerimos, the ancient city of Ialyssos enjoyed a magnificent panorama of the island and the sea. On the acropolis, which has an excellent strategic position, you will see the foundations of Doric temples alongside ruins from different periods: Hellenistic, early Christian, Frankish and Byzantine. On the site, the monastery built by the knights in the 14C, Moni Filerimos, still has its cloisters and church. The underground chapel of Agios Georgios contains 14C frescoes.
