For security reasons, tourists are advised against travelling to the region: seek information before your trip. Al Hakim al Termezi Mausoleum is in fact a necropolis situated just outside the ancient city of Termez. The complex houses the tomb of the Sufi saint, who was a recognised astronomer and mathematician, and adheres to the classic mausoleum design, with a prayer hall and hotel for pilgrims. The mausoleum dates back to the 11C, although the decorations were added at a later date. The site is still charged with religious fervour.
