Description
Built by Lord Ralph Cromwell, Lord Treasurer and veteran of Agincourt, it more resembles a leisure castle than and English castle from the 15C, announcing the Renaissance that was an exterior sign of wealth, like Oxburgh Hall. The castle is nonetheless well fortified with double moats and thick walls (5 m).
