Useful information

Description

Standing atop a small hill, this temple devoted to Shiva dates back to the 11C. It was most likely built on the ruins of an older temple as the region enjoyed an era of great prosperity during the kingdom of Funan (1C-6C). Some beautiful pre-Angkorian statues (6C-7C) were discovered in some caves on the hillside. They are the oldest Khmer statues ever discovered (often related to the worship of Vishnu) and are housed in the Phnom Penh National Museum.
