Description
The island's tourism hub, Symi's port is where most of the shops, restaurants and hotels are concentrated. Pretty black and white pebble mosaics, made using the botsaloto technique that originated on the island of Spetses in the 8C, decorate the pavement of the squares and narrow streets, which are very lively in the daytime. But at dusk, the traffic-free quays lend themselves to delightful walks in the cool evening air, as you take in the yachts anchored in the harbour.
