Description

Welcome to Australia's oldest Catholic institution and one of the largest cathedrals in the country. This neo-Gothic-style building, the construction of which was begun in 1868 by architect William Wardell, was only finished in 1928. The two arrows that culminate at 75m altitude were added in 2000. Inside, the city's ochre sandstone lends a warm tonality. Be sure to see the stained-glass windows from the early 20C depicting Biblical scenes.
