Straddling the Breede in the Overberg, Bontebok National Park strives to protect bonteboks. These antelopes are distinguished by their dark brown fur with white streaks (around the tail, underbelly and lower legs) and a white strip running symmetrically down the forehead to the tip of the nose. Their horns are lyre-shaped. Tortoises, zebras and birds also inhabit the reserve.
