Tsar-Liberator Street has retained a fine group of houses built at the time of the National Awakening (18C and 19C). Most of them have been converted into restaurants (Racev house and Architect's house), into exhibitions halls (Dobri-P-Vojnikov's House, dedicated to a leading member of the local cultural society, and Panco-Vladigerov's Ensemble, named after the Bulgarian musician) or into museums. Lajos-Kossuth's House-museum, at number 115, celebrates the leader of the 1848 Hugarian revolution, who took refuge there after the rebellion failed.
