In the late 16C, Sumedang was the last capital of the Hindu kingdom of Pajajaran. A testimonial to this prestigious past, its museum, installed in the pavilions of the sultan's former palace, showcases numerous objects inherited by the Hindu and Muslim kingdoms that ruled Western Java from the 10C-19C: ceremonial chariots, old puppets, Kris, sabres, stuffed tigers, Chinese ceramics, etc. The magnificent crown jewels of King Prabu Geusan Ulun are the museum's centrepiece.
