Wat Phra Phay Luang
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Situated to the north of the city of Sukhothai, Wat Phra Phay Luang, a magnificent temple built in the late 12C by King Jayavarman II, once marked the centre of the Khmer city. The same size as the Wat Mahatat, the temple has retained just one of its three laterite prang, which is nonetheless almost intact and is decorated with beautiful stucco reliefs. One of the reliefs on the north pediment depicts a Buddha surrounded by his disciples.
