Useful information

Description

This gallery was established between 1838 and 1843 by Wilhelm I of Württemberg. The older building is dedicated to painting and sculpture from the Middle Ages to the Impressionist period. Of particular interest is the Old Masters' section containing masterpieces such as the Altar of Herrenburg by Jerg Ratgeb (1519). The Italian section boasts an excellent collection of 14C Florentine and Venetian paintings, while Dutch art is represented by Hans Memling, Rembrandt and Rubens. The highlight of the modern collection housed in the annexe is twelve works by Picasso.
