Deer Isle
The Green Guide

Useful information

Description

This island, beyond Deer Isle Bridge (329m long), seems to have been left behind by modern civilisation. The road winds its way through forests, creeks and quiet little harbours, with beautiful views of Penobscot Bay and Mount Desert. At the southern end of the peninsula is Stonington - this fishing village and former granite quarrying centre is a popular spot for summer visitors and popular with foodies for its restaurants and cafes. From there, a boat goes to l'Isle au Haut.
