Description
Between the Tinée and Ubaye valleys, the "highest inter-valley road in Europe" is a reminder of the former mule track that witnessed the passage of the Spanish troops during the 1740-48 Austrian War of Succession and more recently, the German army in World War II. It only became accessible to tourists in 1964... Every summer, when the snow has melted, its rocky peaks are revealed and for a few months, it is possible to admire some of the most grandiose panoramas of the Mercantour national park.
