Description

Built in an elegant colonial residence with white walls and wooden ceilings, stands the Radya Pustaka Museum, the oldest in Indonesia (opened in 1890). It houses a remarkable collection of objets d'art and crafts from Central Java: puppets, masks, kris inlayed with ivory and stone, porcelain, crockery, weapons, gamelans, headdresses, gigantic bows of royal ships and beautiful Hindu statues.
