The Bund (or Waitan): the historic wharf of the international concession is lined by branches of 1920s and 1930s financial institutions standing proud. Packed with trendy shops, the Bund is as busy and lively as ever. The waterfront is a must, day and night, and a great way to see the seemingly incessant comings and goings of the junks and tourist boats. To the rear is a joyful bunch of cheap restaurants, markets and fashionable boutiques.
