The eastern tip of Vasilievsky Island is formed by the Strelka ("arrow"), affording one of the finest views of the city. The river is exceptionally wide here before separating into two branches, the Greater and Smaller Neva. This is where the port of St. Petersburg once stood, as can be seen by theRostral Columns framing Stock Exchange Square. The Strelka is a finely proportioned ensemble lined with buildings evoking its commercial past, including the Stock Exchange, customs' warehouses and buildings.
