Useful information

Description

The Parque Nacional Los Haitises is spread over the largest karst region of the Caribbean. The limestone rocks, eroded over time by the sea, have given rise to a fascinating scenery of grottoes (some with pictograms and petroglyphs), falls and mogotes (rocks rising from the sea). The flora is characteristic of humid subtropical forest, while the wildlife is made up of parrots, frigates and ibis. Turtles and manatees live in the mangroves.
