Useful information
Description
The fortress was already mentioned in the 10C but its moment of glory was in the 14C, when it became the residence of the Nasrid kings whose reign in Granada lasted until 1492. You can see the ramparts (access via a corner gateway), the keep and two grain stores. The American writer Washington Irving, author of Tales of the Alhambra, based one of his stories here.
